The Cloth Culture of China ——Part1（Pre-Qin~Qin）

China has five thousand years of history, the development of Chinese history is the same strain with its dress culture. Now, let me take you to walk together into the world of Chinese clothing culture, experiencing the unique cultural charm.
Timeline of dynasties:
Xia dynasty： 2070 B.C——1600 B.C
Shang dynasty： 1600 B.C——1046 B.C
Zhou dynasty： 1046 B.C—— 221 B.C
Qin dynasty： 221B.C——206 B.C
●Xia Dynasty

Xia is the first dynasty in our history .So the dress is full of distinctive religious color. Xia established the institution that people worn clothes on upper–body and skirt(worn in ancient China) on down. Among them the clothes represent the heaven and the skirt represents the earth.

●Shang Dynasty

The main dress materials of Shang dynasty is fur, leather, silk and hemp. Owing to the progress of textile technology, the silk linen content occupies an important position. People in Shang can weave the extremely thin satin subtly, and the clothing made by this kind of material is dignified.

●Zhou Dynasty

In the early Western Zhou Dynasty, mulberry planting and silkworm rearing begin to catch on among the people in the central Shaanxi plain. There were lots of poems in the Book of Songs describing farming, silkworm raising and weaving, such as the poems depicting farm women in the central Shaanxi plain cutting branches with an axe for sprout rearing. This jade silkworm is presumably a ritual object of the Zhou Dynasty.

●Qin Dynasty

Due to the unification China, dressing styles in the Qin Dynasty (221-206BC) were somewhat consistent. However, as the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty was in power for too short a period, the dress code was just primarily established with only the colors of costume being unified. Black was the worshipful color during the Qin Dynasty and was a fashionable color for costume of the time.

A Tale of Food Club — Snacks in Hangzhou

Afternoon guys~ Last week we share some local food of Hangzhou with u~ And right now it’s the coffee time~ **Do u miss these cutie food?^^

If you visit Hangzhou, the most important thing that you can’t miss is snacks in Hangzhou. Snacks in Hangzhou are various ranging from spring to winter. The ingredient of snacks come from the local which is totally native. The following context will elaborate on part of specialty item by item.

1. Pastries (Chinese name: su bing)
Speaking of Jinhua pastries, people cannot resist from its temptation. The Donghao restaurant even takes it into the dish which becomes the raw material of the delicious food. Pastries and shrimp are cooked together to catch much more people’s attention. Having a bit, aroma lasts long.

2. Pancake (Chinese name: cong bao gui)

It is a typical snack of Hangzhou which twisted dough sticks with some scallion covered by a patty. The snack is to commemorate our national hero who was killed by notorious minister in South Song dynasty. To express the disgust of this notorious man, people create the snack and make this popular.

Although the material is very common, it’s a popular dessert in Hangzhou. Of course, the method to make it is easy. Fritters and onion wrapped together in a crumb crust. And then pressure it on fry pan. Covered it with sweet bean sauce and chili sauce, it can be eaten. One more thing, the snack is really a bargain.

3. Chicken crisp (Chinese name: xiao ji su)

Jinyuan in Hangzhou tower plays an important role in gathering popularity. The chicken crisp here enjoys people’s taste bud a lot.

It is made by fine flour, salad oil, bean paste, and the main raw materials. The chicken crisp is really small but cute. The fragrance flow out after a bite which is not only sweet and palatable but also a lovely scene.

4. Crab Dumplings in Soup (Chinese name: xie huang xiao tang bao)

Crystal soup comes out after biting it. Sometimes, a tube is needed in order to drink the soup. Mouth starts to water, right?

5. Hangzhou Style Durian Cakes (Chinese name: hang shi liu lian su)

Durian is a special fruit which people have different opinions on it. Durian cakes of course can satisfy those people who love durian very much. The shape is special which has an attractive crisp golden outside. It not only retains the special flavor of the durian, but also elegant palatability. People once have it will never forget the flavor.

Sister-in-law Song and her bro lived by fishing.  One day, bro of sister-in-law Song was sick, because they are poor, and do not have money to see doctor, so  sister-in-law Song cooked the fish chowder.  several days later,  her bro got well. The king heard then had a taste,  he praised, “admirable colors, fresh taste like crab soup”.
